Marching Cavaliers Parents Association
Our next MCPA General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 7:00pm. Meeting will be in person at PAHS and your participation is most appreciated.
The Marching Cavaliers Parents Association (MCPA) supports all band programs at Princess Anne High School. The success of MCPA is directly correlated to the success of the band programs. MCPA’s efforts fund the majority of costs associated with uniforms, events, traveling, competitions, and FMC instruction.
MCPA meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the band room unless otherwise announced. Any parent/guardian who has an active student in the band programs is an MCPA member and should attend the parent meetings. Parents/Guardians have an opportunity to hear the financial state of MCPA and have an active voice in planning events.
Parents/Guardians are extremely valuable to the success of the band programs. MCPA needs parents to attend meetings throughout the school year as business is conducted even after marching season ends. We look to you for continued payment of band fees, providing your input and voting on business decisions at meetings; and volunteering. It takes everyone to pitch in so that a small majority does not become overburdened with organizing and working the events. To maintain the 501c3 status, MCPA is required to hold monthly meetings. MCPA’s bylaws require a majority of the Board present and 10 members of the Association to constitute a quorum. Parent/Guardian participation has been such that a quorum has been difficult and sometimes not present for meetings to qualify. FMC carries an average of 50+ students.
There are no membership fees to be an MCPA member. There are, however, marching band fees for students in the Fabulous Marching Cavaliers and there are fees for Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble students who are non-marchers. Such fees paid to MCPA are noted in the Handbook found under this tab.
Please remember there is an orientation held annually in August wherein all Veteran and Rookie parents must attend. MCPA uses various social media platforms to announce meetings and orientations. Please take a moment to review the handbook. MCPA encourages you to reach out to Executive Board members with any questions or desire to volunteer with us in any capacity. The students count on MCPA for support. Please come join us and let’s have fun keeping both MCPA and the band programs going.
We are always looking for parents/guardians to serve on the various MCPA Committees: Ways and Means (Fundraising), Chaperones, Uniforms, Hospitality, Props, Nominating Committee, Bylaws Committee, and Budget Committee.
